  • Africa Day falls on 25th May each year, with events taking place around the country from 20th-27th May.  It is an initiative of the African Union, and aims to celebrate African diversity and success and the cultural and economic potential of the continent.  In Ireland, events to mark Africa Day are supported by Irish Aid, the Government's programme for overseas development and Galway City Council.. .The events planned by Galway City Council will take place on 21st May and from 24th to 26th May.  Galway City Council are launching Africa Day 2013 by Mayor of Galway City Cllr Terry O'Flaherty on Tuesday 21st May @ 11:00 a.m.at the Galway City Museum with inputs from the African Ambassadors Network, Africian Film Festival, NUIG and music by South Africian Choirs.
