Harvest Galway becomes a bi-annual event with its first spring forum featuring globally driven organisations based in Galway
Hosted in the landmark Mick Lally Theatre in Galway’s city centre, Galway Technology Centre (GTC) gathered leaders from the region’s sporting, cultural and technology communities together for the 2nd Harvest event which has now become a bi-annual forum.
This was the first Spring Harvest, which took place on Tuesday, the 2nd of April, and was produced following the success of an inaugural event in October of 2018. Titled “Global Growth Through Innovation, Position and Ambition”, the event featured leaders from globally focused technology enterprises such as Siren, 9th Impact and Genesys as well Connacht Rugby and global advisory firm Milltown Partners.
“It is about people, innovation and growing world class organisations from the West of Ireland. We are creating a forum for the community to share their growth stories, their ambitions, and to discuss how we can cultivate the city as a global destination for innovation,” explained Niamh Costello, General Manager of Galway Technology Centre.
Produced by Galway Technology Centre, sponsored by AIB and supported by The Business Post, the event featured the founders of indigenous starts-ups such as Giovanni Tummarello. Giovanni founded investigative intelligence platform Siren™ based on his research in NUI Galway’s Digital Enterprise Research Centre (DERI)and spun out into Galway Technology Centre after closing €1m and €3m rounds of funding. Headquartered in Galway, Siren™ has an international customer base in the financial crime, law enforcement and life sciences sectors; employing a growing team of 36 across the UK, US, France and Italy. On Friday night Siren™ won 2 ITAG awards for ‘Enterprise of the Year (SME)’ and ‘Technology Innovation of the year’.
Genesys, a leading customer experience solutions provider who recently acquired Galway founded Altocloud, was represented by their VP of R&D, Joe Smyth. Genesys are in the process of recruiting 200 UX and AI specialists for their Galway operation.
Harvest is a bi-annual event about people, innovation and growing world class organisations from the West of Ireland. It is a community of leaders who share a common drive to support the development of internationally driven teams and technology enterprises from Galway.
A spring event provides an opportunity to share ideas for innovation and growth. An autumn event is a forum to reflect on what has been achieved and understand how the region has factored into that success and how it can be cultivated for the future.
