  • 24/10/2012.  As the winter approaches and the days get shorter local people in Oranmore, Co. Galway have embarked on a novel campaign to encourage pedestrians and cyclists to wear high visibility clothing when walking or cycling on the roads.. .Entitled 'Hi Five 4 Hi Vis' they will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the greatest number of people wearing high visibility vests in any one place. The world record attempt takes place in Oranmore town centre at the all weather pitch (locally known as the Astro-Turf) at 3pm on Saturday 27th October. The event is supported by the Garda Siochana and the Road Safety Authority who will also be distributing hi-visibility vests to all participants.. At the launch were Garda Gerry Sweeney and Sgt JJ Burke and catwalk model Mary Lee wearing a "very high viz" Mark T Burke Hat! Picture :Andrew Downes
