BECOMING ANDY WARHOL! FRAMING THE VISUAL ARTS PROGRAMME AT GALWAY ARTS FESTIVAL..A group of Andy Warhol look-a-likes were pictured at (Tigh Neachtain's OR Town Hall Theatre, Galway) today to launch the Visual Arts Programme of the Galway Arts Festival 2010, and to honour of the 'Father of Pop Art' who was the first artist to produce a creative collaborate with ABSOLUT in 1985. Today's Warhol's will feature in a pop-art film by audio-visual artist Phil RetroSpector, a creative collaboration with ABSOLUT that expands the Visual Arts Programme this year from galleries to online spaces, a first time move for the Festival. Central to this year's programme is the introduction of a spectacular new temporary gallery, the Festival Fairgreen Gallery, just off Eyre Square, housed in a new building with an amazing glass façade and a beautiful flood of natural light.
